Back against the Wall

10/17/2011 13:02 Today I woke up and finally realized that my back is totally up against the wall. I've been out of work for over a year and contemplating filing for Phoenix chapter 7 bankruptcy, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to make the call. I kept holding out for hope and thinking that our economy was going to turn around, but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen anytime soon. I guess the president's whole “Hope and Change” message isn't really panning out the way he sold it to us, so hopefully next year he will get trounced in the election. I called my father the other day and told him about the decision I was about to make. He said that although he didn't agree with a Phoenix chapter 7 filing, he completely understood why I was doing it. He said that I was growing up in a time when America is changing drastically. The economic landscape was never going to be the same, as long as our elected leaders continue to follow a shortsighted and foolish economic policy. He said that I should do everything I can to try to make as much money as possible and to put every last nickel of it into gold.
